My cousin Jeff awakened to crying and found his preschool-aged son on the floor bawling.
“Did you fall out of bed?” Jeff asked. But Griffin shook his head.
“Did you have an accident?”
“Then why are you crying?” Jeff asked.
“It’s the next night!” Griffin wailed, tears dripping down his chubby cheeks.
Four-year-old Griffin had thought he’d slept through Sunday and it was now Sunday night.
Jeff hugged Griffin. “It’s still last night,” he reassured him as Griffin climbed on his lap.
Griffin feared missing a day of experiencing the world. Instead of counting “sleeps,” longing for the future, and growing up too fast, Griffin wanted to celebrate today.
What does today hold for you? Would you be sad if you missed it? Wake up and celebrate!
